The planet is called Maya, and how Gabriel gets me there I do not know. It is a jungle world of extreme beauty where it seems magnetic forces have gone awry, and a subtle magic defends its wildlife. It is a pity, though, that this magic did not protect a long dead Mayan civilization that had once thrived there. How did an ancient Mayan civilization exist on a planet other than Earth? Gabriel just laughs and says how he wonders how they got to Earth in the first place. Puzzling. But this webpage is not meant to ponder multi-universal theory, this webpage is intended to share with you the beautiful and remarkable butterflies that inhabit this planet. Each year I attempt to contact Gabriel and visit him there, exploring a new valley, island, or river whitewater. When I return, I try to use my limited graphical skills to render them (photographs don't work well there). Most of my displays will be of normal sized butterflies, but there are also many butterflies on Maya of enormous sizes. These we call Gossamers, but they are not as colorful as the butterflies, and none seemed to have the magical defence mechanisms that the butterflies did. For now, my interest only is directed at one type we saw briefly. |
