Tears
By Bolo Mk XXIII Unit ULS (Ullyses)

I stand
I wait
The morning mist surrounds
envelopes, flows, hides
but with the blood red glow
the rising sun belies.

I stand
I wait
With the soft white blanket
the world begs to forget
every night, renewing its lie
of all its children let.

I stand
Silent
Unmoving on this island
haunted by my memory
all their voices that echo
and their faces I see.

I stand
I watch
The lie is unveiled, as always
by the light as it rises
stripping the landscape
of all its false guises.

I stand
I cannot move
The mists condense on my body
forming the tears that I cannot
falling gently down my armor
on the faces that surround me.

Responding to a distress call from the Outpost Colony Greymoors, Unit Ullyses was found heavily damaged after a Deng attack (Another scattered colony was on this world). The colonists had retreated to a fire base and destroyed the Deng, but Ullyses was the only survivor. The dead colonists were all around him, and he couldn't move without crushing them. Many of the colonists wounds were not initially fatal, but Ullyses could not help them. Greymoors is known for its dense fog layers, which is refered to in the poem.
