A gust of wind
Catches a pile of leaves
Dried into shapes like dragons' wings
Swirling them into the sky
To dance like a pride of dragons
Startled by an intruder.

The air charged as if alive with mythical creatures
Smoke from bonfires spirals into the sky
As fat pumpkins dream on their vines
And dreams mingle for an instant with reality.
The world puts on its autumn gown
And prepares for the Halloween Ball.
