Journals mailing list

Journals is for talking about...journals. Mostly online journals, but discussion about paper journals is also welcome. This list is meant to be a place where we can stay mostly on topic, but feel free to talk about anything journal-related in a friendly atmosphere.

Some topic-drift is acceptable, but we want to steer clear from turning this into a chat list since there are other perfectly good lists which do welcome chat. We want to keep the atmosphere friendly, somewhere safely in between saccarine-sweet and flaming-nasty, avoiding either extreme. In other words, you can cuss and spit, but don't break bottles over each others' heads. Debate is encouraged, argument and flaming are not. Topic-drift should be kept to a reasonable minimum. This should be a relaxed sort of list, where for the most part posters just police themselves using their own good judgement.

Topics should stay very close to journal-related subjects. We want to avoid discussions of current events and polls on what other people eat for breakfast. However, we would like to encourage discussions on anything journal-related. The list welcomes announcements for new burbs, requests for opinions on journal-ideas, requests for input on one's journal, discussions about how we deal with the issues involved with writing online, discussions about the art of journaling, etc.

People should feel free to post enthusiastically about journal-related topics, whatever they are, and not feel shy, or worry about being squashed. If someone starts taking a breakfast cereal poll, Al will politely inform them that they've drifted too far.

A big thank you goes to Sandra of de novo / rebirth for setting this list up and hosting it on her server. Go check her site out for a treat. Another big thank you goes out to Al Schroeder of Nova Notes for taking this list over from me and for coming up with new topics/questions every day. It is a far, far better thing that Al runs this list.

The Zodiac Affair
Silly topic-drift that was too much fun not to indulge in and archive.
