Awards (pretty sparklies)
In case you hadn't noticed...I adore awards. Thank you for all of these.

USA Today featured hot site

This is the absolute coolest--Dreaming Among the Jade Clouds was featured in USA TODAY's hot sites for 2/27/98-3/1/98. On their Web Traveler page they had the above banner which featured one of my photographs. My journal was also featured in the paper version of USA TODAY on March 4, 1998. And I get this cute little award graphic below.

1/25/1999: Hey, Sam says I write nice email. I think the man's a real sweetheart to have remembered.

Netscape's Netcenter: New to the Net featured site award
Dreaming Among the Jade Clouds was featured in Netscape's New to the Net on August 3rd, 1999. I got a good rating, this cool award, and a strange, caffinated blurb. Yea!

Karma Storm award

Steve, of the incredible Karma Storm, surprised me with this incredible award right after I started the March 99 redesign. This is one of my absolute favorite awards I've ever received and I'm so honored to have received an award from Karma Storm. (If you haven't seen Steve's work, go check his site out now.) Thank you, Steve!

Most Adored Human Award
And here is my most treasured award, one given to me by my husband, who has a pretty cute sense of humor, I think. The original graphic is super-spiffy and is animated, so if you'd like to see it, it's here. (It was a bit too big to put here, so it has a page all of its own.)

from the letter I received:

"You have been chosen among a very elite few for my Most Adored Human Award. This is a once-per-lifetime award that I give out only to the most deserved.

You are not obligated to link to my site, but since you already do, I won't complain."

("Kepper Jack" is my husband, Mark.)

The Golden Momma

I absolutely adore this award and the words which came with it.

from the incredibly sweet review The Momma wrote:

"A Golden Momma goes to: Ginkgo's Pile of Leaves! for "Beauty of Expression thru Words 'n Visions!." Do not hesitate to jump into this lovely gal's pile of leaves! The web has quickly grown and likewise the plethora of online journals ... many to the tune of "angst ad-nauseum". Not so with the offerings of the glorious Ginkgo! She expresses feelings 'n events with both delightful descriptive words and beautiful imagery through her photos. She's like a breath of springtime air right after a rain storm. She shares many facets of herself through her unique ongoing daily self-portraits; her own personal Fairy Tale and her Waterlily Cafe. For a little fun, try the zodiac sign generator or adopt a cyber pet. A trip thru her Jade Clouds is truly dreamy! Ginkgo, it is indeed a pleasure to play with you in your lovely pile of leaves!"

Planet Amazon Diamond Tiara Award

This was a great surprise, and really made my day. Untitled was featured in Planet Amazon's Site Pagent, and awarded the coveted Diamond Tiara. Thanks Planet Amazon!

1998 Eye Candy Award

from the letter I received:

"I am pleased to inform you that your outstanding web site has been selected as a winner of the 1998 eye candy award. Because of the extremely high qualifications for selection as an Eye Candy Award Site, less than 1% of all nominations score high enough to receive this award. In fact, an award-winning site is of such significant artistic value that a careful study of their qualities are worthwhile for new and old designers and developers alike."

Eye Candy Personal Site of the Month

August 1998: Hey, I got chosen again as Eye Candy's Personal Site of the Month. Very cool! If I ever find out if a graphic comes with this, I'll include it, or just include the one they used to link to me (above).

Late 1998: Hmm, looks like they haven't updated in awhile, I've been site of the month for a few months. Bless their disorganization.

D~Mentia's Gold

from the letter which came with this:

"I have wanted to award your site since the first time I saw it, it's well done, beautifully coordinated, and it has all the content anyone would ever need for hours of reading..."

The Dark Crystal Award of Excellence

This was such a cool surprise. Sort of felt like a home-warming gift since I received it right after I moved into my new server and domain.

from the letter I received:
"I have been to your site a long time ago but I lost the url, now I have found it again, and I am so happy I did - your site is so beautiful! It has such a wonderful "simple" layout and the colors are lovely! And the content... everything is great... *smile*

"I would like to offer you my "Dark Crystal Award of Excellence"!

"If you accept it I will send the award to you! Thank you for a great site! *smile*"

Glitter in the Sun Award

from the letter I received:
"Beautiful, beautiful site... sometimes it takes forever to come across gems like these, but boy, is it ever worth it-!

"I would like to award you with this little award I have made and personalized just for you :)

"Your site definitely Glitters in the Sun amongst the other websites ;)"

Le Prix Draconae

from the letter that arrived with this:
"Congratulations...

You are the winner of the first ever 'Le Prix Draconae', an award that I have been creating to honour excellence on the internet. Your site deserves this award because:

1)It it so pleasing to the eye, with colour combinations that truly 'work' together and not against each other, but in turn are innovative, and show that there was care taken...not fluorescent on black, or blinking text ...or tacky animated gifs....

2)Excellence in content, for letting a little bit of yourself infuse these electrons vibrating happily and resulting with something completely unique...

3)For creativity, in format of your ever changing book of days, your secret ponds, your Hallowe'en Balls, in making your sites an interactive experience...

4)For initiative, in not letting your pages grow stale, in being willing to change, experiment and explore...always with perfect taste!

5)For beauty, in sharing all your gorgeous images, photographs and ideas.

and this wasn't part of my criteria, but I'm putting it in anyways...

6)For being such a good friend. It makes me so happy to be able to give this award to you, because you share so much with so many people, it is so great that you have a little bit left over for me :) I love visiting your site and exploring, in awe all your beautiful pages. My site doesn't deserve this award yet, I still have a long way to go, but I am so excited that your site will be the first recipient of the award.

Anyhow, this is an award you didn't have to apply for, you got it on your own considerable merits! I hope you like it."

Yes, Ceit, I love it! This was one of the best surprises ever. Thank you!
