We cordially invite you to...

Join the Halloween Ball at the Moon Palace, Bradbury, Luna. Dance til Earth-dawn, sip Martian-raspberry punch under the stars, and dream of childhood Halloweens with us as we celebrate the third annual Halloween Ball. Indulge in murder and mayhem, or just wander around and get lost in the labyrinthine passageways and sumptuous rooms of the Moon Palace. Catch fireflies while swimming in the Midnight Pool, relax awhile in the Hanging Gardens, explore the Haunted Maze, visit Moonlight Manor (a virtual haunted house), or dance in the elegant Diamond Ballroom. New things are popping up all the time as more people arrive.

Meet the Creator
Want to find out more about the woman behind all this? You can get to know me here via my journal.

My deepest thanks to my co-conspirator, Ceit, who shouldered half the load of this year's real-time party. We'll be doing it again next year, too.

Send pictures of yourself in costume (from any year, including childhood), and we'll reserve you a space in our masquerade ball, to be held in the Haunted Ballroom. If you don't have costume photos, a regular photo and a description of your costume will do, and if you have no photos (or drawings, or reasonable facsimiles), then a description of your costume will also do. For those of you who have contributed room/areas, stories, or artwork to the Halloween Ball but don't have costumes to wear, you can visit the Costume Department to find something to wear.

You also have the option of helping us decorate the Moon Palace for the ball. (Instead of appearing in costume, or in addition to it, and we've got costumes you may borrow if you like.) There's so many rooms in the Moon Palace that just about anything you imagine might be there. Write up a description of your room (or garden or spooky hallway or secret passageway or what-have-you), decorate it however you like, and send it in. (Or if you're feeling really ambitious, you might want to design your room as a graphic, or even turn one of the previously described rooms into a graphic. Or just make a special piece of artwork to decorate the ballroom with. Artists and 3D artists are worshiped here, by the way.) I'll pass your instructions on to our staff and list your name (or alias) and link (if desired) along with your description. There will be a prize for the best submission received this year before October 31, 1999. The top ten sites submitted from 1/1/99-12/31/99 will receive award graphics and be listed as Stellar Designs.

You can also tell a story if you like, or write a description of an event you'd like to hold, or pretty much whatever. Go ahead and have a dance, play a game (or stage a phony murder--or a real one if the victim "just needs killin'"), serve a meal, or whatever--our recreation staff will carry out your instructions. (Well, sometimes the staff is a wee bit balky, but they're pretty open-minded.)

Mingle with other early arrivals in the Haunted Ballroom.

Come chat with us on our message board and help us plan extra events for this year's party. See what some of the guests who've already arrived are doing, or if you're already here, let us know what you're up to. (If you want to.)

Read a brief history of the the Moon Palace and the Halloween Ball. (This is my October 1 journal entry in case you've already read it.)

Want to explore the Moon Palace some? You'll find rooms and places here to rival your wildest dreams. We're slowly working on descriptions of parts of the hotel, and would love to add your room description or illustration. Join our design team now.

Legal Mumbo-Jumbo: Photos of persons under 18 years of age must be submitted by a parent giving written permission for the photo to be displayed and stating that they are the parent. By submitting a photo or artwork you grant permission for it to be shown, agree that it is of you (if a photo for the Haunted Ballroom) and that you are the copyright owner, and take all legal responsibility for any naughtiness of your own (like if you send us a picture that isn't really of you or which you aren't really the copyright owner of), and all that fun legal mumbo jumbo. Is all this legal nonsense really necessary? Oh, and while we're at it, by sending us anything at all, from photos to room descriptions or stories, you grant us permission to use them for all eternity or until civilization ends and we're reduced to scrabbling around in the dust like crazed chipmunks. Else why would you be sending them, right? (Yes, we'll take something down if asked, but to make our lives easier, we're reserving the right not to. Blame the lawyers.) Ok, mumbo-jumbo all finished now.
