There are twelve signs in the Chinese zodiac, and five elements: Metal, Earth, Fire, Water, and Wood.
Details about how each element influences the different zodiac signs will be on the Chinese zodiac pages I'm working
on right now. When I've got a beta page finished for the Rooster, I'll put the link here so you can read more
detailed information about Roosters and about how the different elements modify their personalities. Here's a basic Chinese-restaurant-place-mat type of description for Roosters: "A pioneer in spirit, you are devoted to work and quest after knowledge. You are selfish and eccentric. Dreamy and serious you speak your mind and are not afraid of what others think. You are able to make decisions, love to be extravagant, and are logical. Rabbits are trouble. Snakes and Oxen are fine." 1997 is the Year of the Ox, here's how Roosters are expected to fare in 1997, according to Theodora Lau's book, The Handbook of Chinese Horoscopes: "The Rooster recuperates in the year of the Ox. He recoups lost power and will have the ability to conquer adversities or receive outside help. Good news at home and some traveling. Loss of blood indicated too at this time, so he should beware of injuries from sharp objects. He could also have an operation."
