There are twelve signs in the Chinese zodiac, and five elements: Metal, Earth, Fire, Water, and Wood.
Details about how each element influences the different zodiac signs will be on the Chinese zodiac pages I'm working
on right now. When I've got a beta page finished for the Dog, I'll put the link here so you can read more
detailed information about Dogs and about how the different elements modify their personalities. Here's a basic Chinese-restaurant-place-mat type of description for Dogs: "Loyal, honest, and trustworthy. You inspire confidence in others. Generous yet stubborn and often selfish. At times cynical and critical you will however never let a friend down. Look to the Horse or Tiger. Watch out for Dragons." 1997 is the Year of the Ox, here's how Dogs are expected to fare in 1997, according to Theodora Lau's book, The Handbook of Chinese Horoscopes: "A year of uncertainties for the Dog-born. He may suffer from hasty decisions or may have to make difficult concessions. Friends or associates tend to misunderstand him or take offense easily. His good intentions are misread and he must avoid confrontation at all costs. Loss of power or additional expense is indicated this year."
