A little about me...
What to tell about myself, it's a difficult thing for me, so I'm going to try a
stream of consciousness to see how it works out.
I was born in Indiana, on August 10, 1971. My first years were spent in
a little blue-gray house with a wonderful backyard complete with a strawberry
patch, a couple rose bushes, a pussy willow tree, sunflowers, bluebells growing
in the shade, wild chives growing around the legs of a swingset, and a wonderful
little jungle-gym thing shaped like a tiny geodesic dome which my dad would hang
upside down in with me. At night in the summertime I'd look out my bedroom
window at the swarms of fireflies winking on and off in our backyard, thinking
of the nightly show as the Firefly Ballet.
When I was 7, we moved into an apartment above my parents' store and I continued
to grow up a block from a college campus, reading voraciously from the science
fiction section of our bookstore. Both my parents worked and I grew up spending
most of my time with our cats (we'd always had between ten and twenty at any given
time since we could never resist a stray) and reading, and when I was older, I also
spent my summers working in my parents' store.
I went to college in Santa Barbara at the Brooks Institute of Photography, getting a
degree in Color Technology. I then spent some time in Colorado taking pictures
for my parents' postcard company, which later became my own. Afterwards, I
went back to Indiana for a few years to work in the family business some more and
during that time also became very involved with computers and HTML.
After that, I moved to the Chicago area to work for a computer games company for
a time, since making computer games had become a bit of a dream for me. Soon after
moving there I met and fell in love with my husband, and six months later moved to Wisconsin to
marry him, after agonizing over which person should switch jobs and move.
At the time of writing this, I am 26 years old, and we've just bought a house
and gotten married. Here I plan to start a web server and a web design
business, which has been a dream of mine for some time now. It's
taken me some time to find my niche, but now I feel very fulfilled, spending
my days reading, working on the computer, and planning a watergarden for next year,
along with always tripping over my five cats, who are of the opinion that I should
do nothing but play with them.
This is how I define myself today, by my past, my present, and my dreams.
